Quick Takeaways
- Official Release Date: KRAFTON India officially confirmed the BGMI Air release date 2026 is December 10, following over 14 million pre-registrations on Google Play.
- 1GB Lightweight Footprint: The team specifically optimized this standalone app for budget smartphones with 2GB to 3GB RAM, keeping the initial package size at roughly 1GB.
- Offline Closed Beta Schedule: Selected players will test the private build from November 20 to November 24, 2026, in offline test centers across Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata.
What to Expect from the BGMI Air Release Date 2026
KRAFTON India recently rebranded and restructured its upcoming lightweight shooter from BGMI Lite into BGMI Air. Consequently, the publisher designed this version specifically for Indian mobile gamers who struggle with high thermal loads and large storage requirements on standard Battlegrounds Mobile India.
In addition, according to the official KRAFTON India newsroom, BGMI Air runs as an independent application. Therefore, existing players do not need to transfer or delete their current BGMI profiles. Instead, you can keep both games side by side, because both titles share the same fundamental battle royale gameplay mechanics.

Closed Beta Registration: Step-by-Step Requirements
Because space is limited before the official rollout, players must complete a strict social video submission to enter the test phase running from November 20 to November 24:
- Record Your Video: First, film a 15–60 second vertical video explaining why you want to test BGMI Air. You must show your real face and speak with your natural voice. However, do not use AI face filters, synthetic voices, copyrighted background tracks, or rival game logos.
- Tag Official Channels: Next, post this video to your public social account and tag the official BGMI channels so the review team can verify it.
- Fill the Registration Form: After posting, click the application form link inside the official BGMI Instagram bio. Confirm that you are at least 18 years old, and pick one testing location (Mumbai, Delhi, or Kolkata). Note that you cannot change this city later.
- Sign the Agreement On-Site: Finally, selected participants must travel to the test center at their own expense. Before entering the hall, you will place your personal phone in a locker. In addition, you must sign an NDA that remains active until November 24, 2026, at 11:59 PM IST.
Pro Tip: During our actual hardware benchmark on 3GB RAM test phones, background Android system tasks often consumed up to 1.7GB of memory before the match even started. Therefore, we strongly recommend closing all background apps before launch to sustain a stable 45–60 FPS. Meanwhile, you can visit our internal directory of latest redeem codes to claim starter cosmetics and exclusive weapon skins without wasting local storage.
BGMI Air Esports & Competitive Future
Many competitive players naturally expect an immediate tournament circuit. However, KRAFTON India will prioritize client stability and fair play first.
During the BMIC 2026 conference, Karan Pathak, Associate Director of Esports at KRAFTON India, noted that the developers are evaluating competitive plans carefully. Specifically, the company will monitor anti-cheat stability on budget devices before organizing official tournaments or grassroots leagues.
